Kudos to my husband on MY birthday

Rick and I have had our fair share of hits and misses in trying to do a meaningful job of honoring our birthdays and anniversaries.  We have probably had more misses than hits.  Well, today is my birthday and Rick is in Texas visiting his family.  You would think that was a definite miss, but he actually did one of the better jobs he has ever done on my birthday.  I woke up this morning to open the card he had left for me to open ON MY BIRTHDAY ONLY.  Inside was a clue that led to a book in our bookshelf which had a clue in it that led to one of our Veggie Tales videos which had a clue in it that led to our scanner which had a clue in it that led to a website address which had listed the concert he bought two tickets for! Great job, honey!  As he knows (and as many know) I have always loved Michael W. Smith...since I was about 10 years old.  I have grown up listening to and admiring him as musician and songwriter.  The two tickets Rick bought for me are for an acoustic evening with Michael W. Smith.

Rick really "got it" this year.  He got what I have been communicating to him for a while.  His gift this year accomplished two things: 1)it made me feel like he actually thought of me (and not just the day before) by planning out a little rabbit trail for me to follow, and 2)it made me feel like he pays attention by knowing that I would love to go see Micahel W. Smith.  You see, it has never been the gift itself that ever really mattered, but truly the thought that went into the gift and the way it communicates his thoughts about me.  Way to go, babe!  You did awesome and made me feel awesome!  I love you so much!

What a cool story and insight into how your husband is picking up on what you are saying. Does he give lessons? Well, Michael (my husband) needs some in this area -- but could give lessons in other great husband skills that he has been blessed with. Maybe I just need lessons in better communication skills. Thanks for letting us peek inside your growing relationship.
Blessings to you both - and by the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2 U, Happy Birthday 2 U, Happy Birthday dear Melissa, Happy birthday 2 U!
Be forever grateful that this is a written song vs. the clanging noise of my voice. In my head it sounds great; not so much probably in real life. :)
Love and in the palm of His hands,
