Love the Church! (notice the big "C")
Rick's and my previous church in Corpus Christi, Texas (the one we met at), Second Baptist Church, brought their youth and young adult group here last week for a mission trip. We had a blast (but are still recovering from exhaustion). Those kids are some of the best young people we have ever had the privilege to be around. They ate what they were given without complaints. They went where they were told without questions. They did what they came to do and with Christ shining through them.
They got here Monday night, July 9th, around 11PM and camped out on the floors of one of our church's houses. Tuesday they passed out fliers for a Vacation Bible School that they organized for Wednesday through Friday. On the afternoons, they shared their faith at beaches, on Ventura's Main street, at an outdoor amphitheater while the youth band did a worship concert, while serving food at the Rescue Mission, and while shopping (who knew that was possible). We also hung out at Santa Barabara's Zoo and downtown on Saturday, their free day.
In addition to all this, they even helped us here at Parkview. They did drywalling, demolition, painting, and floor cleaning among other daily chores. Our church is a little brighter and shinier because they were here. Thank you, 2BC!
This is what the Church is all about...coming together to do the work of the kingdom. The world won't see any kind of light to be attracted to if they don't see the light of our love for one another and one another's church homes. We are in this thing together. It is about eternity and not today's personal beliefs and doctrines. It is about love without hypocrisy. It is about unity.
Loving 2BC, PBC, and the entire body of Christ,
Melissa

We are looking forward to sharing a mission report about the work at our Church soon. A labor of love & compassion as the Body comes together to serve Him by helping us replace our church roof, and the possibility of other much needed repairs. GOD will provide the financial resources we need to complete the tasks He wants us to complete.
We are the CHURCH!
Love to all,
LouAnn
